5-year old male sedge chessie (neutered, UTD, HW neg) needs a home. He was turned over to a shelter in Tyler, Texas by his owner in May because he was no longer able to care for Shaw (the chessie). I bailed Shaw out of the shelter in early January. He has been with me for about 3 weeks and has proven himself to be a very good dog. He is good with other dogs, friendly to strangers, and absolutely ball-crazy. He will fetch until he passes out. His former owner told the shelter that Shaw is good with kids, cats, and other dogs--I have not tested him with kids or cats. Shaw is crate-trained and housebroken. Contact me offlist at werkin2liv@yahoo.com for more information.
Here is his petfinder link: http://www.petfinder.com/petno...t.cgi?petid=12797849

Shaw is located in Little Rock, AR--I can arrange transport to almost anywhere in US or Canada.

I just wanted to say 'thank you' for bailing this boy out of the shelter and ensuring he's safe. He looks like a nice dog that'll make someone a good companion.

Good luck with him. -

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am realizing now what a treasure my own chesssie, Mack, is to me. Shaw (shelter boy) is a counter-surfing champion, and is very needy. Would be a great dog for a family. Not sure about hunt drive--will have to wait for decent weather (here in AR that is temps above 50 degrees lol) to test him on a bumper, etc.
Shaw is a good dog--I am glad he is with me and not in the shelter.

Shaw is listed on the Adoption Options section of CBR&R. Do you have a contact person for the actual rescue?

Tried to contact this person. No reply. I am actively involved in rescue in this area and have never heard of this person.

Try Nicole or Nancy in Texas - we've moved dogs out of Arkansas

and they may know who's in charge of that region - I don't

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement, Shaw has found a home! His new owner plans to work him in the field but most of all appreciates him as a buddy.
