Hard to beleive we were swating bugs last year on the last day this year we've been braking ice and trying to stay warm. Have to say this has been a great season, first swan and more mallards then ever before. My wife shot her first 4 mallards with her SBE in 2 shots. Our dogs are having the times of their lives.

Where are you guys in Montana? Judging from the photos, I would guess somewhere on the Missouri or upper Yellowstone. Nice to see other Chessies from the big sky on this forum.

Looks a little warmer there than out here in the East.

From Great falls and hunting on the Missouri. The two snow pictures were taken Sunday. The one of Mary with Bella was earlier when it wasn't so cold.

I love the Great Falls area, especially up near Loma. I always wanted to do the swan hunt at Freezeout, but the stars never line up with my schedule.

I haven't been able to hunt geese for 2 weeks here, river is frozen pretty much over and the vast majority of the geese are gone.

Where did you guys get your dogs from?

Jeff

I was gone last week, in Billings. Here are some pics of Freeze Out swan hunts. the first pic is of Amber my buddy's daughter she was 16 years old and got this swan 2007. Roxy did a great water retrieve the swan tried to swim away.

Ed and I both got lucky with permits and we both got swans. The wind was blowing as usual.

The swans are here for only about 2 weeks then they head south. They are impressive in number. One day they will have only 300 then the next day there could be 3000. Not a very large window of opportunity.
