Today a couple friends and I went to Marshtown preserve in Dover Delaware to enjoy a nice chukar hunt today. We ordered 25 chukars but we came home with 25 hukars and a Phesant. We hunted over Thor and Rosie. We used Thor mostly to find and flush the birds and then Rosie would retrieve most of them. Rosie would pretty much hang out next to me break on the shot so it let Thor to stay pretty fresh to keep hunting and she got a good view to mark the birds. I dont train Rosie anymore and this was only her second time hunting all year so I let her have fun. Both of the dogs did a great job and we all had a good time.

Thor was pretty impressive on his steadiness to flush and shot. Nice one of him picking up the bird then spitting it out, his face had that "dang it" look on it.

Rosie is very quick.

Hsve you ever hunted Thor on wild birds?

Looked like a fun shoot.

That looked like alot of fun, for man and beast alike! Thor was working on time management. That was great when you told him to drop and he spit that out along with the bad tame chucker taste. Big Grin It's great to see your dogs doing what they love best. Keep sharing the pictures.

Nick, Great Pics again & video.

Love Rosie's pic. Like disc brakes locking up in the front while the rear wants to keep moving. And the concentration.

Thor also was his impressive self. Looks like a good time for all. Thanks for sharing. Charlie

Thanks everybody.
Jeff after he spit out the bird it flew then we shot it and then i released him on the bird. that drop command comes in handy again.

Rosie is very fast and she lives with my brother and he is in a town house. She never gets worked.

We dont have wild birds like that here so it is all upland. All the birds have been good fliers.

Mary and Roy I know doing stuff like this is nto going to helpp for hunt test and trial training but it is just to much fun for us and the dogs.

Charles I think rosie can stop on a dime. I knwo she does in dock dogs. She runs as fast as she can and puts on teh breaks at teh end of the dock and then just falls in and still goes 10 feet.

Nick, I think that's why your pictures & videos are so great. The dogs are naturally having fun and enjoying every adventure and hunt. No pressure, just working to please and enjoying what they love best.

If I am reincarnated as a chessie, I want to come back as one of your dogs - tehehe.

Best Regards, Charlie

Nick, must confess we don't do feild trials or hunt trials. We aren't that disciplined and neither are our dogs. It looks like fun though. We want to go and watch it some time. We love hunting with our dogs and watching them work. Thor is awesome! Did you do all of Thor's training? Thanks for posting the video watched again and it just makes us smile and get a good chuckle. Hunting season is just too short.

Nick, Thanks Thor is awesome. This site has us thinking of doing so much more with our dogs. Dock diving, weight pulling I don't think we are up to hunt trials but you never know. I hate to admit but I think our shorthair Fred would be the better dock jumper. He really launches, only thing is he has to wear a life jacket. He sometimes forgets to keep his rear up and then he sinks.
