i have a pretty funny brownie on my hands. she's nutz about birds, stalks and pounces on bumpers, and thinks she's the cat's sister when indoors.

what i need is a local training group that can help me take this mutt from comedy to working retriver.

out of respect for the mission of this board (namely competion minded training), i've posted similar requests on a few other forums. the limited results have put me in contact with some very serious sounding training groups with lengthy applications and staggering monthly dues.

So, with respect to the very accomplished folks who regularly post here, I'm asking for any quick leads to training groups, however informal, that might meet in the Longmont/Fort Collins, CO area.

Again, thanks to all for educating this much enamored newbie. Geoff

Hi Geoff,
I may have a similar dog like yours.
I took a gamble on him and he may not "work" out. I have a new pup on the way.
However, I have not given up on the current dog.
I live in Littleton, CO.
Feel free to contact me.

Geoff & John,

There is a Chesapeake Fun Day planned for 10/10/04 in Centennial, CO. and you might be able to meet some folks that could join in your fun with your brown puppy. Contact Linda Meek (meekl@aol.com) for additional information. Also, there are other folks with less serious field training intentions located all along the Front Range. Check out the Hunt Test related clubs.

The Pikes Peak Retriever club just started puppy classes (last Sunday) with a training session for older dogs after class. The training grounds are just east of Colorado Springs. It sure would be nice to have another brown dawg there...me and my dawgs are feeling very out numbered LOL
