I had the same problem with my pup when she was 6 months old. You need to get her on a check cord EVERY time she is outside and don't give her the command to come unless you can enforce it. She will eventually get the idea that she has to obey you, even at a distance. Persistence is the key. If you are going to FF and CC her, it will solve everything.

I was having a similar problem with my 6-month male. One night he was in the back yard and I called him to come in "Here!" He looked directly at me for a few seconds (he absolutely knows what the commend means) and turned to do whatever was more interesting. I took off after him, he ran from me and I made a lunging tackle. Shook him up a bit. Made him sit/stay. Walked back to the house and commanded "Here". He came on a run and has been VERY good about responding since. He still ignores now and then (on the hot trail of a bunch of quail) but I can tell when he's too interested and hopefully have a check cord on to make sure he responds.

Yea I remember Dixie when she was 6 months old. Mike was in a full leg cast and Dixie decided she wanted to do something else. Well she took off running with the check cord around mikes leg. Mike looked like he was dancing with the stars. I think that is how he got the name Dixieownsme. Dixie turned out ok anmd Im sure your dog will do the same.

Honestly Bellesdad at that age just keep her on the check cord. You should be able to accomplish everything you want within 30 feet of you. good luck.

I totally agree with the check cord and ff and cc will keep her in line. We also occasionally reward our guys with a surprise treat when they come when training and it keeps them on their toes. You call come and hey there just might be a tasty treat!

Tennis shoe training and twisted ankles, boy those were the days...
Keep the dog draggin that checkcord for another month or two after you think she is doing great. They have a real knack for learning just how long the checkcord is too... so have utilize longer to shorter lenght cords in your training. Look for those little oppurtunities when the dog is distracted, by whatever smells good today, too call them to you...have the slack out of the cord and give her a jerk if she hesitates to respond. Don't forget to praise the dog for responding to your command, but don't over due it.
