Now that I have got a fairly consistent and enthusiastic return with my pup (from previous post about 12 week old), I have given her a chance to try out some birds and she is not at all ready to bring those back!
Actually I laid a short scent trail out with a dead mallard and let her loose on it. When she found the mallard she looked at me out of the corner of her eye as if to say 'hey, I'm NOT sharing this with YOU!' I could tell immediately that she was not about to bring her prize back to me. Instead she grabbed ahold and started shaking the duck quite vigorously.
THis was a thawed mallard, but she had a similar reaction to frozen birds when she was younger. I will put the birds up for now, and hopefully FF will cure this habit.
Any suggestions in the meantime would be great.
