Went to run in our club trial last weekend and my son wanted to run in the junior handler event, I was a little hesitant, tiger is a handfull!!! Well, he brings him to the line off leash and sets him up and calls for the birds, here is where I think it is going to blow up, he "cowboys up" and really handled him well, he was steady and nailed the mark, little problem with delivery....he was looking for me to bring the bird to, I was doing my best to hide behind a bush, he lines up for next mark, and nails it, my son knew the whole drill, sit.....mark...wave for the bird.....send dog...take bird and thank the judges!!! I am so proud of him, I never in a million years would have thought tiger would run for him, he has tried before and it was a mess. Now he wants one of his own, worse...he saw some boykins and likes them!!!! Here is a pic of him from last year with his first bird.

That's great. Boy that must have been very nerve racking hiding in the bushes and watching?
Well, time to either give up your chessie to your son or get him his own.

Been in search of one for him, was thinking a lab to start him on, he would have none of that, but it all backfired, he REALLY likes the boykins he saw running at the club trial, his thing is they are just smaller chessies and he is a smaller guy!! He was talking with a lady at the club about her boykin and she told him about them and about how the chessie was used to breed the "original" boykin. He liked that!! Have no doubt about it though, he LOVES tiger and it is his "job" to feed him and take care of his kennel, water him and air him throughout the day, he will lay with him at night and use him as a pillow while dog eats his bone and he catches up on some cartoons. Kurt Bertram bred this dog and I could not be happier, high drive and smart as a whip, and the tempermant.....Have NEVER had a problem with him, gets along with everyone and any dog, now I can add he can be handled by a kid... if he would just calm down a little with age the wife would be happy!!
