Well the 2003 Specialty is over. I would like to thank the Jayhawk Retriever Club for all of their help. Without them this trial would have never got off of the ground. The club members threw birds, shot flyers and helped Kevin and I with the equipment transportation to the field. I would like to thank Claire McCall for stewarding the Open. She was a real trooper all three days. Claire sorry you had to work so hard. Sue Ely was also a big help at the Qualifying and Amateur. Also to Scott Kurtz and his wife who stepped in to judge the puppy stake when Tammy Wood called me really sick. To Heidi and Gary for all of their time and effort in planning the specialty here in Kansas. I know for a fact I am forgetting many. For those I did not mention Thank You. Last but not least Kevin Marks who chaired this event. I would like to know the hours we spent on the phone planning this event( thank goodness for unlimited long distance)He did a great job finding help for a weekday trial. It was hard for Kevin and I to be to excited since last April losing our All-Age dog.
It was good to see so many old friends in Kansas. I have not been to a specialty in seven years and it's been that long since I have seen most. I promise it will not be that long again. I also met so many new people and I look forward to seeing them again soon. I hope all that made the trip to Kingman enjoyed the grounds, tests, and social events that Heidi and Gary worked so hard to put together. Most of all I hope everyone had a great time. And Keep running them brown dogs. Hope to see you next year Mike Hafley |

Hear, Hear!
Excellent job by everybody. I'm always amazed by folks that can put on a trial like this, and still find a way to run dogs. I think the longest I saw you be still was while they were running the test dog in the 4th series of the Amateur, and the judges made you sit out there behind the retired gun blind with me. Many thanks to the members of the Jayhawk RC that helped out. We'll be in Idaho next year. And at Winslow Farms in 2005. PB |

Congradulations to all. Sounds like this was a great event. Maggie and I are sorry we missed it. Wish we could have been there and to run Moses and see all our friends from the last Speciality. WE WILL see everyone in Idaho.
