Hi there,
Does anyone have Hallie's OFA #. I have found it but cannot remember where online. I have her grandpup and it's not on our pedigree. Thank you!

Tina

You can do a search on the OFA WEBSITE:

OFA WEBSITE

Under "Search OFA Records"

I'm on my second of her "grand pups" and was initially concerned about her lack of OFA, too. But her owners are Canadian, and it's my understanding they don't OFA but have a different system.

In any event, you can run the dog that's your pup's link to her on the OFA site, and seeing how it and its siblings rated will provide what's really more important information. (Just run a search on the dog and bring it's results up, then click on "vertical pedigree" above that information to bring up how its direct kin have rated.)

In my current case, the link is my pup's sire, Rainbow Farm's Cajun, who's vertical pedigree shows that he and all five full siblings that were OFAed have "Excellent" hips.

Thank you Rick...that explains a lot. Our pup's sire is Duckbands of Otter Flatlands, which I believe is Cajun's brother. I will do as you suggested...thank you so much for the information regarding Canadian Chessies!

Rick; the standard up here (Canada) is pretty well the same as down there;OFA. I don't know of another way here.

Wouldn't be the first time I was mistaken, but I'm pretty sure the practice I was told of worked through a university in Ottawa.

Naturally, Bill and Connie Swanson at Flatlands Kennel would have the most definitive word on Dancer's hips. And though they had no web site, I once Googled their contact info, so know it's readily available. I just didn't follow through with a call of my own after seeing the OFAs of her kin and pups. (And good reviews from folks who'd watched her training down here one winter.)

Thanks, Gary, it's a relief to know I've only lost a portion of my mind.

Tina,
I owned Otter and put his HR/MH Titles on him. Don't know if they have done any more wtih him or not. I should have never sold him and run him in FTs. If your pup turn out like him you will not care what ofa rating Hallie had. Otter was one of the nices dogs I have ever trained. With lots of personality and zero aggression.

Sent you a PM. I would really like for you to keep me up to date on your pup.
Thanks,
Lance

I also sold a great dog out of Hallie's Flatland Comet. The most awesome dog I've ever owned (you didn't ask about that).

From what I have read and heard, OVC is far more picky than OFA.

I'm new to this forum, so just read this thread; know it's months later, but thought you'd all like some update & clarification on Flatlands Hallie's Comet:

Her call name is "Dancer", just to keep things straight, and her hips were done OVC at Guelph, and I've never heard of a dog w/ OVC clear hips getting than less than OFA Good or Excellent.

Dancer will be 11 years old in March 08 & is the picture of health: someone training w/ us this summer thought she was a pup! Still runs as hard & fast as ever, still bird crazy. Retired but still the most joyful dog on the planet.

Dancer had 2 litters with Decks & almost all pups were QAA, & of course her daughters Sweetie & Fannie have distinguished themselves in AA stakes. Hope the grandpups do her proud as well!

Connie

Connie,

Thank you for posting information about your very nice girl, Flatlands Hallie's Comet....Dancer.

I have one of her grand-daughter's via Gary Sorenson's Flatland's Tiny Dancer (Minnie) x
Blaze. Her name is also "Dancer". I too hope that someday she will do her grand-dam proud.
Until then, we are training hard. Smile

Also, would it be possible for you to post a picture of "Dancer"? I am sure there are many others,
as well as myself, who would love to see a photo of Flatlands Hallie's Comet***....

Thanks,
Norene & Dancer

I just had a dog xrayed within the last year and passed as far as I know there is no shades of grey. The dog either passes or fails the xrays I stand to be corrected if i,m wrong. Marvin Calhoun

Fwiw, Connie, the first of my Dancer grandsons (Gary Sorenson's "Minnie" x Wendy Chisholm's "Abe") was a pleasure at home and asset to our commercial waterfowling operation when a cancer took him at 22-months. The second (Rainbow Farm's Cajun x Fireweed's Echo of Governor) is, at 11-months, much the same: great with the small grandkids and an elderly live-in mother-inlaw in the house and a surprisingly-to-many solid hand for his age in the field. Dancer done good.
