There is a link to a survey being run by UC-Davis that's up on the OFA website. The goal of the survey is to discover whether there are associations between three birth defects of pups (cleft palate, umbilical hernia that requires correction, and retained testicles [sorry I cannot spell that crypto-word]) and characteristics of the breeding (live, AI, etc.), the way that the bitch was cared for, and any other health problems that she had during pregnancy. The survey is extremely detailed - down to brands of products used.
Given the frequency of umbilical hernias in Peakes, it would be great if breeders participated in the survey. The link follows - http://www.offa.org/birthdefectsurvey.html Claire |
