We are considering taking in a young adult female, preferably well trained and spayed. I have been following the CBR rescue site & haven't found one that is close to us, or the right match. I have a young lab, that needs a friend, role model, & training partner. We miss the breed terribly and have decided that a chessie always needs to be part of our family. I am in the Central Iowa area & willing to travel a few hours away. Might consider a male, but prefer a female. Not looking to spend much or need championship lines, but hunting background is a plus... just want a great motherly female for my kids & young lab.

I am a volunteer with CBR R&R and am located in the Northeast. I recommend you fill out an adoption application to get the process started. We have some dogs in the pipeline that are still being evaluated and are not yet posted on the web-site. Once you become approved to adopt, a local volunteer will begin communicating with other members in the organization and be on the lookout for a dog that would be a good match for you. I can think of one dog, a female, that has the potential to be a hunter but I'm not sure if she's been gun-tested yet. But she is not yet listed on the web-site.
Good luck in your search and thanks for considering a rescued chessie. |

I too am a CBRR&R volunteer. As Beth mentioned, go ahead and fill out an application. There's no commitment on either half and we get so many dogs in that you'd be surprised what might come along. Plus, as Beth mentioned, not all the dogs are listed on the Web site AND *sometimes* we can help arrange transport if the *right* dog is a little further away. Yes, I've placed dogs in Texas, Washington State, Alabama and yet, I'm in Florida. You just never know what can be worked out if you're willing, patient and able. ~Kerrie |

why not put these messages in "CBR's in need of a new home" instead of under Puppy Ads? They were nice enough to create the forum, might as well use it.
