Hello everyone, I,m new to this forum, my family and I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. Our German Shepherd has recently passed on, he was almost 12 years old, he died peacefully at home with his family with him. We got him from a family friend who was a breeder for the RCMP K-9, we will miss him. I've been doing some research on our next puppie, and what type of breed would best suit our family and outdoor lifestyle. May need your help in the future finding a puppie and breeder when our family is ready. Just wanted to say Hello. Thanks

Paul, Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride.
Curious to what the "outdoor lifestyle" is? Plan on Hunting? Also, "family" includes children? Ages? Important issues.
A Chessie can handle the weather conditions - alot posting here are from 'up north' Not sure off hand where Saskatchewan is
in Canada, but there are a few near the 'pole' with Chessies. Anyway, welcome to Teamchesapeake, the BEST forum around.

Paul,
Welcome to TC. So sorry for your loss on your Shep. Hopefully you will find a new member of the family to make it complete.

Thank-you for your responses. A little more about myself and family. Montana and North Dakota both border Saskatchewan, Canada. I live aprox 5 hours north of the Canada-US border in a city called Saskatoon. My wife is a grade 6 school teacher and we have two young boys who are 7 and 5. We have a cabin 3 hours north of Saskatoon where we live aprox 100 days a year. We enjoy fishing, big game, and bird hunting. Temperatures range from 85F in the summer to -25F in the winter with lots of snow. We would be looking for a dog that is good with children, solid stature, hunting bloodlines, a companion that would enjoy being outside hunting and hiking during the day, then resting with the family by the wood stove at night. Thanks again. Paul
