Pending LITTER FOR April 2006
We are proud to announce the following planned breeding: Delaware Chief Nicobe QAA MH (Nicky) x Bailey's Montana Dream QAA MH (Tana) With special permission from Tom Cox the owner of Nicky, we are planning a Surgical A.I. using frozen semen from Tom’s Great Field Trial male, “Nicky”. This breeding brings together some of the very finest Chesapeake lines from the past three decades. We owe Tom a tremendous Thank You for agreeing to do this significant breeding. Tom and I reserve the right to each select a puppy from this breeding. Only otwo other times has this frozen semen been used successfully. In May of 2002, former American Chesapeake Club President, Wendy Shephard Chisholm DVM bred her outstanding female Westwind’s MacKenzie Goldrush** using the Nicky frozen semen. That breeding produced her two young Field Trial and Bench Champion prospects (Westwind Abernaki Chie f QAA and Westwind Ms. Katahdin QAA. Most recently, Keith Carlson bred his exceptional female "Meg" with Nicky semen. This fine litter consisted of two male puppies. We wish the Best of Luck to Keith, Meg and those "Special" Pups!! Keith did an amazing job of defining Nicky's unique qualities in his resent puppy ad on this forum. This is the "Last Straw"(s) of Nicky semen. We decided a year ago to breed one of my pups that is owned by Nick Wohlers to Tom's dog Nicky. Our female is called Bailey's Montana Dream QAA . "Tana" is an extremely talented female. Her tremendous marking ability and tenacious attitude and desire make her a very exciting dog to watch. Tana had two Amtr 3rds and numerous Jams in 2003-2005. Tana is out of Edgar Johnson's male ( CH. Johnson's Cur-San Tag QAA MH ) and our "Chase" female (DK'S Chase'n Betsy). These lines are a great outcross to today's current field trial prospects. Nicky had earned his Amtr. Win and had was on his way to his AFC title prior to his untimely death. We will have pictures pedigrees and related data posted shortly on our website. Keith the issue is not how good the breeding is but who gets the puppies. Don't you agree. We need good breedings going to field people.

Amen, I think the majority of Bill's pups are destined for FT homes. That is pretty impressive, but then again I think a lot of people understand that this as well as Keith's are what I would consider very special breedings. I am still looking for kennel space. |

Mike,
First of all, there are a number of pups from all three litters going to several very good, active field homes. We did not plan to have 3 "Nicky" breedings at one time, it just worked out that way. And besides, I can see Tom Cox smiling in San Diego right now! What is good about all of these breedings is that there are three legitimate All Age Chesapeake females with good pedigrees involved. How many times do you see Chesapeake field litters where both parents are All Age field trial dogs? Only a handful every year. Getting pups with field potential into the right homes is important but I also think it is important to see pups going to enthusiastic younger people who will bring something to this breed in the future. We need some new, younger blood to keep this activity moving forward. I am really glad both Sally Denton and Steve Parker sold me pups long ago when I decided I wanted to learn and participate in field activities. We all have to start somewhere. Gary, sorry to hijack your thread!! Good luck with "Tana" and I hope you and Nick get some nice field Peakes. Keith |

Sounds good. Maybe they will be at the Chessie Specialty - puppy class - it would be great.
