Thanks to Wendy Shepard Chisholm VMD (and several others like Bruce Ahlers DVM, Marlene Drag DVM and Tom Cox) creative Peake field breeding ideas, an interesting combination of two very productive field trial lines of Chesapeakes has taken place this winter.

The surgical AI was done by Dr. Pew in Orem, Utah, and pregnancy was confirmed last week by ultrasound in Grand Junction, CO. The litter appears to be an average size and pups are due 3/18/07.

Not sure how all this will shake out at this time and there has been some behind the scenes interest already in the potential pups. However, additional interested parties can send email inquiries to mesaclaims@aol.com.

“Rudy’s” information is of course available at Wendy’s website www.westwindchesapeakes.com,

“Meg’s” information is available at: http://teamchesapeake.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6161080941/m/4421000992.

Getting ready to start my day an thought I would post and see how Meg is doing. Hope you guys have gotten a break in the weather, this last three weeks has really been outstanding highs in the 70's. Looking forward to hearing and seeing pic's of the pups.

Hey Marty,

How are ya! Everything is fine here and we're in the midst of a "heat wave". Lots of sunshine and highs in the 60's with lows around freezing. Only need a couple of logs in the woodstove to take the edge off in the morning with that first cup of coffee.

A lot of snow in the high country just up the road 20 miles and probably will still be there come June. Maybe I should head to MS. once the puppies are gone to get in some overdue water work?

Take care,

Keith

"Meg" was right on time yesterday and gave us 9 pups, 5 males and 4 females. I could not have asked for a nicer birthday present.

Kieth,

Congrats on a very nice litter...looks like you'll be busy for a few weeks. I assume you are planning on keeping one or two?

All pups are healthy, very active and just way too much fun.

"Tank" (the former Mr.Brown") now resides in S.Carolina with a real nice guy (Chris Hulsey) who along with his friend Thomas and his pup from the "Rudy" x "Belle", litter plan to do some serious bird hunting together. Have fun you guys!

"Tank" at 3 months

"Tundra" resides in Maine with her Lab pack owned by Hugh & Sally Ann Earl Costello DVM and heads out to Mosher's Sugargoot Kennels for early lessons. Sally Ann has been a finalist twice at the Canadian Nat. Am. and her "Yukon" is qualified again this year. But she is also a long time Chesapeake owner and we all have high hopes for her new Peake puppy.

Here are a couple more photos of the "Rudy" x "Meg" pups.

Marty Newport's "Highmark's Sudden Impact" ("Bang") hit the water immediately when I deliverd her at 9 weeks in Hernando, MS. and has been swimming hard ever since.

Katherine Grizzanti from Warwick, NY has had Chesapeakes in her family since the early 1900's. "Moby" has been a welcome new addition to her family.

Hopefully "Cruiser" ("Westwind's Stingray") will find some "big" water with old friends while residing in NJ.

We absolutely love our additional wild child "Mickey" ("Westwind's Lucky 7") and at 3 months is already doing many cool things for a young puppy.

A few winger marks at 10,000 ft on the Grand Mesa close to home. Straight out, straight back with tons of enthusiasm (that little brown speck on the left center of the photo is "Mickey"). He will spend all summer training in the mountains with brother "Rusty", mother "Meg", uncle "Sunny" and cousin "Maggie".
