I am posting to let the participants of this forum know that I have a 5 1/2 month old Chesapeake named "ruff" (Northern Flight's River Rake X High Power Jasmine) that I am interested in selling to the right person. Now before everyone goes crazy on me please read my post. Ruff is a very nice kind and handsome dog. I have 2 1/2 year old twins who torment him by pulling ears, stealing dummies (or fetches? as they call them), taking his food while he eats it and all of that. He is Dark Dark brown with almost a hint of red when the light hits him just right. He has a very blocky head with a beautiful curley/wavy coat. He is going to be fairly big according to my vet approx 85 to 90#. He has been around gun fire, he knows come when called "here", sit, kennel, fetch on his name, and we have began working on heel. He stays outside in a kennel and does come in once in a while but does remain quiet and calm in the kennel. I can provide pictures and pedigree to anyone that wants them via e-mail. (pedigree is available at www.highpowerretrievers.com along with pictures of Dam and Sire)

I think the logical questions is if this dog is all that I say he is why am I considering selling him. I am considering selling him to the right person because the dog was bought to hunt, hunt test, and trial. I believe he will be a very nice gun dog and heck I could be way wrong and my be a AFC/FC I don't know. But what I see at this point after consulting with a few chessy pros that I know and trust the concensus is he more than likely will not be a great trial/test dog. I had aspirations to derby this dog and that does not appear to be in the cards at this point. I have seen plenty of dogs who have not made it even into these programs turn out great with titles and qualifications that the "pros" never thought they would get and to me those are the dogs you love to root for. Obviously I am an amateur who does not have the time and money to gamble on the finished product. I hope there is someone out there who would like to have this dog and take good care of him and test or trial him if they want. What I really hope is that he fetches a million ducks and pheasants and has a great life and makes a good addtion to a family.

Sounds like a nice pup. Why don't you go back to the breeder and ask them to help you place the dog. If I were the breeder, I'd sure want to help find a great home for him.

I have contacted the breeder and told them I would be willing to part with the dog under the right circumstances. I asked them to keep there ears and eyes open and they said they would.

Do you still have this pup? If so, when would be a good time to call you?
