Due 2/12/06 and waiting....

Delaware Chief Nicobe*** (****Piney Neck’s Deacon WD** x AFC Delaware City Lady)

And

Bur Oaks Neutron Meg*** (****Boss Dawg MH*** x ****CH Crossfire’s Red Rocker MH**)

BREEDING INFORMATION:

“Nicky” (DOB 10/20/88) was originally owned by Alex Spear (CFC/CAFC FC/AFC Chesdel Chippewa Chief) and put on the National Derby List (13 pts). Tom Cox of McCammon, Idaho (and San Diego, CA.) purchased him as a young dog and won a Qualifying and an All Breed Amateur in Utah. There were 4 QAA dogs in “Nicky’s” litter and his half-brother (by Piney Neck’s Deacon) is FC/AFC Ed’s Turnpike Drifter MH. “Nicky’s” mother “Lady” was owned, trained and handled by Lottie Shetzler and on the sire’s side, has a very interesting pedigree. Burning Tree’s Outer Banks in not only out of two All Age parents, but is a “Widgeon” son and doubled up on “Surf” and “Nanuk”, two of the all time great Chesapeake field dogs. He is also a littermate to Burning Tree’s Chocolate Kiss*** (Amateur winner) owned by two old friends in Colorado, Tom and Myrna Burdick.

“Nicky’s” sire is the classic “Chip” and “Surf” daughter combination producing numerous All Age Peakes. PJ’s Tumbleweed is genetically the same as “Widgeon” and “Jasmine” and was once Jerry Patopea’s personal gundog prior to her sale to Sally Denton of Delaware. My first field trial dog was a littermate to Piney Necks Deacon born 8/23/81. I also owned a male out of “Jesse” and “Kissy” born 10/31/85.

“Nicky” is the sire to the following qualified All Age Chesapeake field trial dogs in very limited breeding:
Delmarva’s Nanticoke Chief*** (All Breed Qualifying win; All Breed Open and Amateur finishes)
Westwind Ms Katahdin*** (2005 ACC Specialty Qualifying win; Derby points)
Westwind Abernaki Chief*** (All Breed Qualifying 2nd; Derby points)

“Meg” (DOB 1/21/01) is from the last “Boss” x “Sammie” litter in 2001 and is a sister to the following dogs:
CH Crossbars Raggedy Ann*** (Best Bitch in ACC Specialty Field Trials of 2003 & 2005; All Breed Open & Amateur finishes)
Crossfire’s Bizzy Lizzy*** ((Open finish)
Crossfire’s Genuine Citori***(Open finish)
Crossfire’s Slam Dunk*** (All Breed Qualifying win, Amateur Jams)
Crossfire’s LC Smith** (Qualifying placement)
Chesnick’s Avar (limited field trial entry in Qualifying)

“Meg” is a half sister to:
Bur Oak’s Authentic Jessica MH*** (Best Bitch in ACC Specialty Field
Trial of 2002; All Age win; mother to Bur Oak’s Unique Trapper*** and Sunshine Dinah Soar***)
Delmarva’s Prairie Storm*** (Best Bitch in ACC Specialty Field Trial of 2004; All Age win; mother of Delmarva’s Country Girl** and Delmarva’s Maggie Mae***)
Sunshine Heidi***
A Lil’ Razmataz***
First Rock from the Sun MH***
Chesnick’s Albi MH
And several others.

“Meg’s” sire Boss Dawg MH (Amateur win; All Breed Qualifying 4th @14 months of age) is one of the highest percentage producers of qualified All Age Peakes in very limited breeding. His parents both had All Age wins and his mother (Sweet Lil Sassy Sarah) was a “Barry” daughter, “Surf” granddaughter and only lacked ½ points for her AFC at the time of her death at 5 ½ years of age in 1990. “Boss” sire “Jesse” will always be one of my (and others) favorite field trial Peakes.

“Meg’s” mother “Sammie” has a MH, Qualifying 4th and Jams. She has produced numerous All Age Peakes when bred to “Decks”, “Suade” and “Boss”. She was sired by an All Age Peake, CH Lick Creek’s Ian*** and is the granddaughter to FC CC’s Diamond Dex and DC/AFC JJ’s Jessie.

“Meg” was owned, trained and handled by Bill Burks and Gary Kavan and began running the All Breed Derby Stake before she was a year old. When she aged out of the Derby in January of 2003, she had Jammed (10) or placed (3 fourths) in almost every stake she competed. Bill and Gary skipped the Qualifying and as a 2 year old with Bill, she had an Open Reserve Jam in a large All Breed Stake in the Midwest in late summer of 2003. “Meg” also placed 3rd with Bill in the Open at the ACC Specialty of 2003. She also has All Breed Amateur finishes in 2004. We hope to resume her field trial career sometime in 2006 with All Age competition.

Both “Meg” (PRA A1)and “Nicky” (PRA A) have all their health clearances (hips and eyes).

NATIONAL DERBY LIST DOGS IN PEDIGREE or RELATED

1. AFC Delaware City Lady-19
2. FC/AFC Ed’s Turnpike Drifter-23
3. CFC/CAFC FC/AFC Chesdel Chippewa Chief-31
4. FC/AFC Yukon’s Genuine Jesse-31
5. Honeybear’s Yukon Jay-13
6. FC/AFC S&S’s Sunshine Meg-16
7. FC CC’s Diamond Dex-39
8. Crossfire’s Genuine Persuader-13 (Boss’ littermate & QAA @15.5 months)

Honeybear’s Yukon Jay***, FC/AFC Yukon’s Genuine Jesse, Crossfire’s Genuine Persuader***, Delmarva’s Prairie Storm*** and Bur Oak’s Unique Trapper*** have all won the Derby trophy at the Chesapeake Specialty. All of these dogs are either in “Meg’s” pedigree or closely related.

Sweet Lil Sassy Sarah*** had 14 Derby points in US and Canada in 1986 and along with Crossfire’s Genuine Persuader*** are both winners of the FC Tiger of Clipper City Qualifying Trophy.

“LittleSally”, “Jesse”, “Sarah”, “Boss”, “Suade”, “Meg”, “Dinah”, “Trapper” and “Maggie” have all been QAA at a very young age (before 3) and are all Amateur trained and handled.

Although, both dogs involved with this breeding are not titled field Chesapeakes, they both are legitimate All Age field trial dogs with very strong field trial pedigrees. They are from proven producers with other littermates on both sides of the pedigree sharing the power of their genes.

Summing up, these lines of field Chesapeakes have been consistent in producing competitive field trial dogs for many generations. This breeding is a preservation of “old” Chesapeake field trial bloodlines using some of the last of the “Nicky” fozen semen and will not be repeatable. Hopefully, the owners of this pair may continue to participate in field games with offspring from “Nicky’ and “Meg”.

Sincerely,

Keith Carlson

You should post a picture on that other board so those people over there will know what a Field Trial Peake looks like. LOL

"Meg" gave us two healthy brown males yesterday and she has been a really good mom for a "first-timer." Wish we could have had several more pups to share. Off to the vet this morning for a check and a close watch on the little ones for the next few days and weeks.

For all of you who responded to the original post with your email inquiries, thank you for the interest in this litter and I hope all of you find a Peake field pup to enjoy.

Keith

Kieth
Glad to see Meg is doing well, hope her two pups turn out to be everything they are bred to be. With only two to care for she should bounce back and be ready to run fairly quickly. Not to mention that those two boys will get more than thier share of nutrition.
Congratulations again
Marty

I cannot believe I forgot to include another "Jesse" offspring in the National Derby List Peakes that are a part of "Meg's" bloodlines and pedigree.

#9. "Hooray for Hazel" (FC/AFC Yukon's Genuine Jesse x Burning Tree's Chocolate Kiss***) owned, trained and handled by Bill Burks from the second "Jesse" x "Kissy" breeding. A sister to my "Bandit" (10/31/85) from the first breeding.

Keith

PS. I sure have enjoyed this whole process and have a renewed respect for those of you out there that have given this breed so much with all of your diverse field breeding efforts.

Hi Keith,

That first Dinah pup pic you posted is "Mr Orange" (well, that's not his real name but it's what Bill's been calling him).
I pick him up on Saturday and can't wait. Thanks for all the help.

Keith,

I think 4 dogs would be too many for you.
So, I will come by and pick up the "Nicky & Meg" pup from you. Big Grin

Look at all those good doggies. Keith sure is nice to read that your son is a Chessie man too. A chip off the old block ehh. Given them black devils a run for their money.

Nice looking pups you guys.

FYI I picked up Rita for a little break while my trainer went to a trial in Europe . She is filling in real nice and taking her first month very nicely. Took to the collar very well too. Small nicks do the trick . She is going pheasant hunting with us tomorrow at a farm club. Gonna let her bust some roosters for us . Cane too.
