Just found out my 3 yr old has one bad hip,I should be able to get at least one season out of her before retiring her to the couch. I will be looking for a pup early spring next year. I do alot of upland hunting and am on the verge of jumping into the trialing game. Any advice on planned litter or advice would be greatly appriciated

My litter is due May 26, 07, If you would like data on my pups, please look up Fireweedchesapeakes.com, and look at the Stud, Cash. My dogs Sage(the bitch)with field trial genetics and Aspen Hunt 60-75 days per fall, Chukars to Ducks and all birds inbetween. It is nice to have hunting dogs with Field trial genetics, great vision, desire, smarts, power and nose. I have bred my dog, Sage(who is a Linda Harger Bred Dog)with Linda's advise, to a line of excellence. Cash is the son of Yakity and Sunday's Rufwater Canvas. Please look up Their Genetics, Impressive to say the least. I know your looking in the Spring of 08, but I have been in those shoes years back, I lost a dog Suddenly in August 1998 before hunting season, and thank goodness I had bought a pup from a Linda Harger breeding in July, it saved my hunting season, watching her grow and learn. At 9 she is still shining bright and has over 2000 wild bird retrieves.

I'm sorry to hear about your 3 year old...is he/she really bad with her hip and having trouble walking or running? We had a Lab that had problems with his back..it came on & off, but it never stopped him from a good hunt with my husband. He hunted until he was 12 years old. If your dog is still able to hunt, walk, and run without significant pain it would make him/her happy (I bet!) to keep hunting! At least it did for my husband's Lab.

She still loves to run. If you did not know she had hip problems you would never guess by watching her run. She does come up sore after a hard work out. I will let her hunt as long as she can. Getting her spayed this weekend.
