Hi...Glad to find this board. Everything you ever wanted to know about chessies and more
It's been almost 3 1/2 years since my family had to say goodbye to our sweet girl Shelby and we are finally ready to expand our family I am looking for a female pup, color does not matter although Shelby was deadgrass so I may not want to stir up too many memories. I have no intentions of breeding or showing. Yes, I have had chessies...Shelby was a chessie and growing up I had two other male chessies - Barron and Bruff. I would prefer a breeder in the Northeast with a good reputation although I'm not seeking out champion bloodlines but would like to steer clear of HD. (had that heartbreak in 1976) Any help would be appreciated. |

There's a breeding in Connecticut I know about. Puppies will be brown and big. It is a repeat breeding. If interested let me know. The owner of the dam is not a breeder just loves chessies. This will be her second litter. Pupps are not to expensive.

Moscowitz,
Thank you for responding... I was just about to post that I have found a breeder in my area. I contacted her about a week ago and just received an email this morning. Her pups are due within a week and she is sending me an info packet on her chessies. I stumbled upon her accidentally. I was just flipping through all the breeders and she was listed as being in Missouri but when I went into it she had just moved to Massachusetts. Her kennel name is Castlepeake. If that doesn't work out I may wait it out for the next Jazz x Rake litter. They look like nice pups. Thanks again...Debbie Her kennel name is Castlepeake. |

Whatever the breeding, please check the OFA WEBSITEand make sure that both sire and dam have their health clearances, at the minimum hip ratings and a recent CERF. Note that the OFA site does not include the optigen PRA test. Results for this test can be found on the ACC PRA LIST
Good luck with the new pup! T. Mac |

Debbie,
Since you are looking for pet/companion dog, you may want to consider a rescued chessie? CBR R&R has several young (under 1 year) females available for adoption. Check out the Available Dogs at cbrrescue.org. Good luck! Beth |

If Canada (Ontario) is not too far for you, I got a really nice puppy from Wingmaster Kennels.
I am a first time chessie owner and his breeder's have been absolutely amazing - went up for a visit the other day and they gave us a lesson on retrieving. Their stud dog is "Gator". My pup is by Gator, out of "Tuffy". He is everything I wanted and more, I am really happy with him. Guaranteed hips/elbows/eyes for two years, really well put together pup with great movement, and wonderful personality. We will definitely get our next chessie from this same breeder. When we were up to visit them last they had a few pups that had not sold yet, gorgeous pups, though I imagine they have found homes now. If you haven't found a pup yet, I suggest looking up Wingmaster kennels, they have been great. Attached is a photo of Tucker at 4 months (he's 5 months old now) Tucker_006.jpg (165 Kb, 22 downloads) |
