My dog is two and I guess pretty sensitive. (I have posted before) I have recently changed vets and have great hopes that I can put this dog back on the right track with his allergies/skin problems etc.

But...This week while we are battling an ear/eye infection with an antibiotic, he got 5 ticks. Or we pulled 5 ticks off of him in the last three days. These are his first ticks. The second day, his Lymph nodes under his 'arm pit/elbow' swelled up to the size of 3 marshmallows on both sides. As they receded and we found 3 more ticks, his lips and then eyes and even his 'dewlap(?)' swelled. His groin area has a rash. This morning all is mostly normal. He was swollen up for the most part symetrically

I have never seen a dog have a reaction to a tick bite. I have had lots of dogs and prior to moving to the maine coast, lots of ticks. I have never seen a dog swell up in this way unless he eats a bee, but that is localized. Compounded in this was a dose of oral antibiotics, and I have seen my son swell up in a similar manner after several doses of antibiotics. But the dog is fine now and he's on his second antibiotic dose.

It looks like he had, for a dog, an anaphalactic reation to the ticks, but is that possible? I couldn't find anything on the Merck site that seemed remotely similar.

have any of you who come form tick-ier areas seen this?

Thanks

Anne

You might try posting on the CBR4ME forum and see if you dig up any thoughts there.
