My 7 month Chesapeake always has "gunge" in the corner of his eyes. This is most prevalent in the mornings. Is this normal for this breed? Or do I need something for it?. He doesn’t seem any the worse for it and his eyes are bright and open fully.

No it's not normal! I had this problem last summer with my pup, then about 5 mos. My regular vets said it was allergies but, we went to an eye specialist just to make sure. Their eyes are so important to them that I do not take chances even if something seems minor. My pup's started out as just some gunk in her eyes but worsened to where they'd be crusted shut in the morning and I was cleaning them out several times daily. TUrns out it was allergies but inside her lids had gotten inflamed. She had to be on drops for about a month but it's since cleared up. GOod luck--I'd get it checked out. Could be something simple and fixable like allergies or blocked tear ducts.
