Hello. I am hoping someone has some insight on my seven year old chessie. He is pulling his hair our in places that he can reach..ie. around his tail, back, rear legs. He did it in the spring and started again last week. He does not have fleas. I don't over brush him nor over bathe him. He has not had a change in diet.
Thanks, Tom |

Do you use a flea and tick problem on him?
The base of the tail is usually a good hiding spot for fleas. Is he actually pulling his hair out or is he blowing coat? Is he licking his feet? Could be so many reasons for it, allergies, fleas, mange? If continues a trip to the vet would probally be in order before he gets a skin infection if he already doesn't have one. It's definitely not fleas. I have him on flea treatment. Yes, he is pulling out his hair. The skin is really red after he has been pulling out it...sometimes a little blood. No, he has not been licking his feet.
Yes, I will have to take him to the vet. |
