Rocky will have cataract surgery this week. Will do one eye first. She is almost blind in one eye and 50% in the other.

Billy, here's hoping everything will go OK with the surgery. I'll keep fingers crossed cause you sure have had enough bad luck you're about due some good karma. Susie Royer in CO had a dog that had cataract surgery, not sure if it was the kind w.the plastic lens though. She's out of town but maybe she'll respond when she returns as to how it turned out. I think it was about a year ago.

Here's wish Rocky and you the best. What a neat dog she is. I have heard that most dogs do very well with the lens.....keep us posted .

Hi there,

I don't look at this section of the board much, but saw this post today.

Just curious how your dog's cataract surgery went?

My 7 year old male CBR is scheduled for cataract surgery either tomorrow or Thurs (3/10 or 3/12 - I find out their schedule later today). He is having the right eye done.

I'm a little nervous but excited too, as he has obviously lost some vision. Can you already see an improvement with your dog?

Thanks!
Lorrie & Lex (the patient)

Went fairly well. Check up Tuesday and maybe the left eye Thursday. I think her FT career is over.

Billy,
I hope that the check up goes well. Fingers crossed for her full recovery. You have had a rough go with these brown dogs, as well as great success.

Hope Rocky's re-check goes well!

My boy's surgery got scheduled for next Thursday (3/19). At his final pre-op appt. yesterday, I got to see the cataract on a big screen while they took measurements, etc. It was easy to see the veins & optic nerve on the "good" eye, but the one with the cataract is completely hazy. No wonder he can't see too well!

Best wishes to Rocky for a full recovery!
Lorrie

Check up went well. Left eye will be done 3-30. She still has the collar on which means she can't drink out of the toilet!

Looks like Rocky has excellent vision [ Dr. Gross] in both eyes. We will see in about a month [visiting Mickey mouse for ten days starting April 15th] and start training. It is remarkable from going almost blind to her seeing everthing!

That is good news. Isn't it amazing how far medical science/treatment has come. Hope the healing continues to go well for Rocky.

Awesome news for Rocky! I hope everything continues to go well for her.

My boy Lex had his cataract surgery on March 19. All is good so far, although keeping him quiet has been a challenge. And in the words of the vet, "Lex is a real train wreck with that collar!" He has already destroyed one collar (by running into everything) and is working on the second. We have another week to go until his 3 week follow up appt.

I can already tell a difference in how well he sees, just around the house. I can't wait to resume Utility training with him. We are both suffering with too much time on our hands/paws! Smile

Lorrie -- It is unreal how well Rocky can see. She destroyed one collar and had to have it duct taped. Still get meds until Sunday when she goes for her last Vet visit. Can't wait to get her back in training, she's getting a bit fat.
