The Mystery Dog |
I wouldn't do any regimented hiking trips with such a young pup. Better exercise, and better for their brains, is to just walk outdoors somewhere where they can safely be off leash and explore at their own pace. Just let the pup ramble where he will, smelling the flowers, chewing the grass, etc. I would reserve the serious hiking for when he is much older.

Lisa,
I totally agree,of course, with you. Geoff, try to think about a little girl or boy of about 1 and half years. The only thing after some yards is walking in your hands. That's really the same with puppies. I know,we can hardly wait till we can do what we want to do with a pup,and wait an d let them explore as much as possible in very different circumstances,or in the field or in a mall, doesn't matter as long as you're busy in a good way.(do not make the puppy tired,so short times, as also for a baby!!!) The contact between the owner and puppy is so important. You are the guide to guide!!!! Have fun!! Dominique |

thanks for the feedback. I have already gotten the daypack rigged for the front-carry. On my back: 50-65 lbs of camping gear. On my front: a very happy brown pup who is quite content to ride along and disembark only when the camp's ready. Happy spring/summer!
