I have a 21month old male that I sold as a pup and his owners have just been told that he has both Patellar Luxatilas in both knees and Tenmow Contrsetion in his ankles I know what the Patellar luxation is but have not heard of Tenmow Contrsetion. How often do these happen. I have been breeding for 10 years and this is a first for me. Is there a test we can do to check out our breeding dogs.
Thanks
Rebecca

Are you spelling this correctly? I just googled it on the internet and there is no such thing! I've never heard of it before and I've been breeding dogs for over 35 years, and horses before that!

Hi Kathy
This is how his owner wrote it. I have never heard of it either.(Patellar Luxatilas in both knees but He also has Tenmow Contrsetion of both ankles) I copied this from their email. I planned on looking it up on OFA site also. Patellar Luxatilas is more common in small breeds?
Thanks
Rebecca

It will be interesting to see what you come up with....please let us know, but usually when you google something, it will bring up any site that even remotely references it! In this case, it asked me if I was spelling it correctly and gave no alternatives.

If I remember I'll try to ask my friend who is a vet tech at a large breeder veterinary clinic if she's ever heard of it.

Rebecca, I checked with my friend the vet tech of many years. She said there is no such thing as Tenmow Contrsetion, and very possibly they passed something on to you phoenitically..... but she can't think of anything legitimate that rhymes with this or sounds like this. She suggested you have them go back to their vet and get the correct spelling.

Another thought....could they be misreading handwriting for "torn cruciates", though that is not in the ankles, but the only thing I can think of that comes close and not uncommon in this breed.

I asked them about it, and they are not sure if they are spelling it right. They explained what the vet said it was. Their vet told them that a normal ankle has a 45 degree angle and that he has no angle at all. Dose this make sense
