237 dogs were tested for EIC. Clearly, I believe, this is not a scientific sample of CBR’s. Most of the samples were taken at a dog show and a field trial. The majority of other CBR’s were not sampled. This is the only picture we have at this time. We will have to let the statisticians and scientists figure this one out. I hope they can explain how we did and the impact on our breeding programs!
Here’s the breakdown: A. Clear 190 dogs or 80.17% B. Carrier 40 dogs or 16.88% C. Affected 7 dogs or 2.95% (5 of these are under one year of age, and have not collapsed as of yet). So having seen two Lab puppies collapse while training this is not a good thing. Clearly we do have EIC in our dogs. I don’t know what the impact will be and how it works, we will have to let the gene people figure this one out. So if you are a gene person please feel free to comment. More data to come on the EIC page. Also, 90 dogs reported into Mario and 237 dogs tested. Thanks Katie and Mario |
