This is an odd thing to complain about, but there must be people on this board who have had this situation. Both my trainer and I are worried that my young dog will seriously hurt herself becaus her entries are so big and hard. From what we can see, she doesn't alter her entry to match the setting. Even if she could, I would still worry about what's below the water 20 feet out that no one thought to check.

Thanks,
Claire

Claire leave it alone!
Just be very detailed about checking the water you train and hunt on.

You don't want to do anything that destroys her drive!!!

Good luck in 2008,
Hope to see you at an event this year!

Hi Claire;
It does sound like an odd dilema, I've had a few discussions about water entries with my training groups. I've often been cautioned about the big entry. As Malcolm suggested being diligent in checking where you train or hunt goes a long way. Some how as Ardi ages it worries me less, she still likes to make the big splash, maybe I trust her judgement more. She used to over run on rough terrain as well and take some spectacular spills, she has gotten better still goes hard, but adjusts better with experience.
Happy Training.

Hi Everyone,

Of course we don't want to screw up her drive, but there's a lot of water where I can't responsibly ask for her to retrieve. Now that she is doing multiples regularly, the urge to fly seems to build while she waits for the second mark to go down.

At least we are in Mass. and not in an area with lots of flooded timber! Dave and I will continue to be careful with her.

Thanks,
Claire

Just picturing it makes me smile. I suspect that Dave may have never kissed a dog, but I have definitely seen dogs give him the pickle!
