Walking on Blinds or FWB rule number 32. Several years ago I was judging an Amateur and a dog, which had acceptable marks in the first series, lined the blind. The gallery gave the dog’s job rounding applause. I overheard another gallery member state: “Billy’s going to drop the dog.” Unfortunately the dog, after being sent, walked out to the planted bird. The dog did not go quickly, briskly or eagerly. Anyway the easiest way I measure what the rule book states is if I can run faster then the dog goes out on a blind the dog fails the blind. Or FWB’s rule number 32. Most likely the balance of control and style was not achieved with this dog and the trainer has made a man made problem.

So Billy what trials are you running, judging or working. I would enter but right now very disapointed in Larry's blind work. Below where he should be.

I got to know what does FWB mean, I understand about the walking and being slow on blinds and makrs dogs being dropped for "style" just never heard the FWB rule. I have used SOB "stumbled on bline" or STH "slower than hell" but never FWB, one other of my favorites is NFW, "no fricken way" Marty |

Thanks, just did not get the FWB as failed water blind. It was to simple, was trying to come up with something a little more like the thread you sent me to. Billy Did not know you fit the FWB syndrome, I will never see those letters and be able to keep a straight face again. Failed Water Blind regards. Marty |

I always thought a dog that walks out on any blind was a man made problem. Being around all types of retrievers for a long time it is easy to spot a dog that has been ground down. The balance of control and style means alot to me. Rocky and I are doing alot of 400 yard school blinds to get here moving at a pre eye operation clip. I'll post some drills [picture]the next time I go to Winslow Farms.
