Could anyone give me some advice please? My 18 month Chesapeake has started to chase his tail at the whiff of anything exiting happening.
If I place some dummies about 6 feet away and send him to retrieve, he often just starts to spin around in circles barking and chasing his tail. I tried retrieve with a long lead but just get tied up in knots, if I take him to the dummies by holding his collar he doesn’t spin but as soon as I let go he starts to spin again.
This dog also had water freaking when younger but now is much better. He seems very obsessive about things and will go for large stones and try dragging them around getting exited and chasing his tail. This then seems to start his teeth clicking together and foaming at the mouth. Walking to heal, sitting etc are no problem.
I would really like to get this under control because it is preventing further training, let alone getting extremely frustrating!
Thanks to anyone who could give some advice.
John

"He was a gentleman and I could not see his feelings hurt by being stared at by throngs of people, many of whom would be beneath him both in breeding and behavior. "

try putting him in a large, up to 500 yards, 5 or 6 finger blind field, or throw him some 300 yard marks.
