What situation would make a better starting point for someone to get their feet wet in trials. At the Derby level with a well schooled young dog or perhaps at the Qual level with an advanced HT dog?
Dave B. PS Handler and Dog both training routinely with trial group. |

I think hunt tests are the best place to get your feet wet. Young dog inexperienced handler -junior. Derby and qual is not a place to get feet wet. Just my opinion. I am doing field trials Qual and Amat level. But I have a puppy that I will run in junior hunt tests. and next spring hope to run in derby until he turns 2. Derby is serious business. All the pros want derby points on their derby dogs.

Thanks Moscowitz and understood FT's are no place for a green rookie. I'm reffering to someone who has played the HT game and wants to move up so to speak
Thanks, Dave? |
