Been working on the above in training and trying to keep the momentum high and corrections to a minimum through attrition. The one thing that has come up is my girl "Katies" usual reliable "Overs" have turned to "Angle-ins"??? Is this a biggie or is she perhaps just somehow trying hard to over compensate (not cheat the edge)?
Dave aka Peake PS Any other quirks that can come up with a cautious self correcting dawg? |

Not a biggie, in my book. Be sure to balance the water work with land blinds and both land and water marks, to keep that attitude up. On the land blinds, hold her to the standard of overs and backs. On the shorelines, just shine it on for now. She'll straighten it out once she gets the idea of shorelines.

Dave,
To keep momemtum and still convey the concept mix in some shoreline single marks. In your style of training this can help convince your dog that swimming along that shore is a good thing with little/no handling. This may also help casting accuracy since your need to handle will be less. Also when ever possible but ducks down for that blind. "Good dogs like ducks" it helps make that swim worthwhile for the dog. Just a thought. Tim |
