This dog doesn't even flinch when I dig my nail INTO his ear. I cant even get a yelp to shove the dowel in. I have tried spent shells, bottle caps and rocks with out anything but a blank look on his face. Thanks for any ideas

I use a leather collar with the brass "O" ring in the back. I then wrap the ear around the "O" and apply pressure with my thunb nail. The force of the thumb nail on the ear with a solid metal backing usually gets them to open their mouth quite quickly.
