After a well diserved layoff of nothing but hunting to get her head back on her shoulders, we decided to hit the trail hard in Oct and she came out with gloves on! Passed her last test 3 weekends ago for her NAHRA Master title, then we went 2 for 2 deep in black dog country (NC) to start her quest for HRCH title, this past weekend we finished her HRCH title with two more passes, She is back to the Tigger I used to know (A crowd pleaser)In 3 weekends she picked up 42 master level birds without a hitch.
Feels good to be back in the game. Thanks to all the bird boys and judges that make it pos. Denny & Sweat Tee |

Julie,
Dang, you been keeping up more than I, YOu got it right and thanks, she was the talk of the south the past 2 weekends, only chessie in the whole dang tests, none in finished, seasoned or started, I had a lot of people wanting cards on her up coming breeding, love it when you can be proud waking back from the line with applaus, we went first on the major water blind last week and they droped (leashed)6 black slicks in a row after her, I thought for awile we were gona be the only pass but he wind shifted and they started passing. been great ride, (reminds me of when she was 2ish, by the way Jule she turns 4 thur, might have to have one of them birthday parties like you give your dogs, hehehehe thanks for your support over the years Denny |

Jtown,
The last jumps we did was at the frederick out door days up in md and my 12 year old neice ran her, she won the jr handler event with tig I think it was 18'1" I dont train for that other than to aquaint the little girl to the dog and vice versa, If I trained the way you are supposed to she would be jumping in the 20 feet range easy. thanks |

Hi Denny !
Glad to see you two back running again and with great success ! Tiger is a nice animal and should be run so that the lab people can see how a good Chessie can keep their head turning ! All the best in you next endevours. Martin Pinder |

Hi Denny!
I started running quals with Sassie when she was 23 month old a our local tial as we did not have a Junior (Derby). She was way out front but had to handle on last bird of a converging inline triple and got a green. I ran a couple more Juniors and place in those and then went south to train for the winter. In the spring I ran two Quals in south with a green and a secound and then came home to run in Canada where we ran four more Quals and got three greens and I picked her up in one for giving me three cast refusals on a shore line water blind. I had seen enough although the judges said I should have let get the bird and run the water triple because she would have finished and got atleast a green. Sometimes a pick up correction is worth more than a ribon at a young age with a high powered dog !! I then entered in the Amt. at the next trial as I was not impressed by the judging combination in the Qual. Sassie picked up the go bird on a land triple with an outside retired gun and left for the second center bird down a couple of hills and over a ridge out of sight ! At this point we heard a screem and no dog reapeared . The Judges and I went down and found Sassie sitting in a mud ditch unable to put wieght on her rear legs. I took her to the nearest vet. at which he determined that no damage to the back legs or ligaments, plevis, spin or directly to thre spinal cord. We then took Sassie to Ont. Vet. Collge where they determined that Sassie had FIBROCARTILLAGONOS EMBOLIC MELOPATHY ,a stroke in the spinnal area where the small blood vessels ruptured and put pressure on the spianal cord that creates a temporary parralisis. Four weeks of complete rest and then eight to twelve weeks of rehab work at which time you will have what you will have !!!!! Fortunatly we have Sassie back to about 94 % of her previous level and are training at a high Qual. to Amt. level and this winter will tell if we can get further and improve her stammina on the 200 yards and better marks. It has been a long summer but it could have been worse . OVC said it was the best of the worse as atleast with this one you had a chance to get the dog back to working level . Sassie and I had a great openning day see article on "Sassie's Last Rehab Day". Sorry for the long explannation , but this fills in the gaps. Regards Martin Pinder |
