Colonial Crossfires Rhode Trip (CH Westwind’s Colonial Rimfire “LB”*** x CH Westwinds Colonial Starfire***MH) handled by Dr. Bruce got first in the qualifying at the Sprirt of St. Louis Labrador Retriever Club field trial on 26 September 2008. Trip is just 27 months old. Bruce has done most of his training but I helped. There is more info about the trial at findretrievers.com.

This past weekend at our trial, Mississippi Valley Retriever Club, Bruce not only was chairman of the trial but found time to run. He handled Trip to a qualifying second. The last series was a tough triple with a semi-retired gun. The dog could not see the gunner when sent and could only see the gunner if it swam to the other side of the pond and knew the area of the mark.

Trip takes after his dad LB. He is marking very well and has the greatest personality and work ethic. He wants to please. Thanks Mike for picking him out for us.

Dr. Bruce also handled Rags (Crossbar’s Raggedy Ann) to an Open Jam. Rags also completed the Amateur in really good shape but decided to break on the honor. You would think that after running 8 series at the age of almost nine that she would have been tired but she even wanted to go when Bruce had to honor on lead. She has no conscience.

Congratulations to all.

You just have to love older dogs that break.
It keeps everybody young!

You got to love it when they break on an honor - eight years old and experienced and still wants the bird badly.

What a great group of Peakes Bruce and Marlene have owned and trained for many years. "Rags" and "Trip" just continue those trends.

Congrats to all involved!
