Here’s an item hot off the phone. There is a certain young female dog, with Derby points, which left the cold on Minnesota for warm winter training in Mississippi with Joe Harp. Now the person who transported her now has her in the house and she sleeps in her bed at night. Caution: This dog may not want to go home! But not to fear, there is a Lab with the same sounding name, with 110 + points and a double header winner who sleeps with her owner. Also two of her littermates sleep on beds with their owners. The Lab and the girls are somewhat related. All four have lived together.
This bonding is why some Chesapeakes preform better at FT. |

What are you doing!!!!!!!!
This is all my wife needs to see. I will be on the couch before you know it! |

Malcolm get a recliner. They are very comfortable when there is no room in the bed.

All my guys take turns sleeping with me especially when Jeff's not home. They are all also house dogs. The only ones that now use the kennels are the 2 pups but they they spend more time in the house than they do in the kennels.
Billy's right, it's all about bonding! |

If all the tools are in place:
Most dogs will retrieve because they want to and when they get bored you won't go to far in FT. If you an get a dog to retrive because they want to please there owner, a pasion for there owner, you might have a FC. The first dog I noticed doing this was Topbrass Cotton. Then Capital City Jake. I did not know want was going on at the time. Then it hit me this summer while I was training with Mitch Paterson. Desi is bonded with Mitch. Rudy bonded with Mitch. Coda and Rachel bonded with Mitch. So if you want to run FTs you got to get the dog to do it for you! You may have to tell the wife she may have to find another place to sleep, I got a bigger bed. |

What to you do when the other person in the house referrs to your dogs as sweety or sweet heart and now they think their call names are sweety and sweet heart. I used to call them Murray and Larry. Now I'm to embarrassed. Larry responds to sweety

mike,
I never would have admitted that if I was you. Scott |

Mike,
I'm guessing she doesn't help with force fetch and probably isn't the best helper for that sit crop sit drill. I have one of those at home too. I used to hear her up the volume on the TV as the FF sessions got a little too hot. |
||||
|
It gets worse. When I wanted to use the collar she threatened me with dominatrics (spelling). Sounded interesting at first but she said she was going to put the collar on me.
By the way she does help with the drill all the time to her credit. She doesn't like me cropping them but she does understand. |

You coming over to the dark side of electric? Mine wasn't a huge fan of the crop, collar or even the pinch collar but after a fair bit of explaining and seeing my pup come running to the collar because the collar means work and work means fun I finally changed her mind. She still won't trhow dead birds yet but we're working on it. |
||||
|
Not yet because I'm afraid Kristin will put it on me. Also I want peace in the house. Did you get out hunting with your pup and how did she do?
|
||||
|
She has been out a few times. Geese are still a little bit confusing to her but she'll get it. Plus Scott rotates through his crew so we are never in short supply of brown dogs. Here is a shot of Fireweed's Its Only Money "Cash" the only Dual to Dual chessie ever proving that field trial peakes can still get out on the river and do what the were meant to do.

That's funny Murray never had problem with Geese. While Larry the first time would not pick it up. I had to keep a dead one in my freezer and use it for training until he got it.

Thor never had a roblem with geese but I started him at a young again. I would tease him with the geese in the front yard and toss them out for him and let him cary them back to me. This is Thor at about 15 weeks old. 9 weeks old. |

Some great keepsakes there, Nick.

Cool pics, Nick. Really like the one in the boat.
Good luck hunting! When does your season close? or has it already? Damon |

Duck goes out this sat. the 26th. But in the Resident zones we can still hunt geese until Feb. 15th 5 geese per person. Snows are in until March 8th. |

Gotta be careful with that bonding stuff, or they'll try to slip you the tongue:
