The trial is over. We didn't exactly set the world afire, but no reason to hang our heads in shame either. Two Chessies started the Qual and both finished, earning JAMs: Steve Parker's Sunshine's Georgia Peach ("Georgia") and my Delmarva's Native Son ("Nate"). Neither the Labs or Goldens entered came close to 100% finishers.

They don't just hand out JAMS for nothing

You ain't kidding. Not with a $75 entry fee, 250 mile drive each way, $64 a night motel, and restaurant meals in a town where nothing is cheap--although Steve hauled his Airstream up the mountain to avoid the daily 50 mile round-trip drive to a motel. Taking a trailer up the mountain is a task in itself. I didn't envy him. Still, maybe we both need our heads examined. The field trial obsession is absolutely beyond any reason.
