Just returned from the Champlain trial and there are alot of chessies running. A very tough opening series with 80+ dogs. Canvas, handled by Rick Milhein, and LB and Loppy handles by Dave Mosher had excellent opening marks. The field was cut significantly with several handles being called back.
Good luck to all the chessies running today (Mike C. in the amateur with LB, Loppy, Star and Jake, and Ken with Canvas. (Congratulations to Mike for LB's first all-age JAM last week at the PRTA trial in Maine). Three chessies ran in the derby, with Kurt Bertram setting up challanging derby marks. Beamer was looking good going into the last series, as were several other dogs. I haven;t heard the placements yet. My two young derby dogs, littermates Abe and Katie, broke out last week. They made it to the last series at the PRTA trial in MAine and the second series in VT. At 13 months old, they acted their age, hooking guns and big hunts (happyfeet!), on the land marks, but I was proud of them. It looks like there will be alot of folks going to the field specialty in Kansas. See you there! Wendy |
