Entries have closed for the Eastern Idaho trial. 176 dogs entered (some in more than one stake); of the entries 8 are Chesapeakes, 8 are Goldens, and 1 a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever--the rest are Labs. This is probably as many Chessies as you will see in a single trial (other than the specialty), and there would be two more if I weren't judging the Open and thus ineligible to run or, since there will be an owner-handler Amateur and Qual, to have someone run my dogs for me. It is fun to live in an area where, while still a distinct minority, a number of Chesapeakes run with regularity. Good luck to all of them!
