Discovered a "gold mine" by accident on internet
that I had to post immediately. The following link is the complete/ongoing mapping of gene sequences, etc, for our precious cbr's: htt://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genome/guide/dog/ This site includes the Genome Project, Homolo- Gene (putative homologies sequenced eukaryotic genomes), plus numerous other mappings & info!! The genome project server is "down" temporarily, but a search button on the top of page allows to search gene & genomes anyway. I spent 10 hrs and still only "scratched" the information available. I wanted to share this info to all concerned (which is actually all cbr owners) because of the advances to preventing, if not curing, DM & EIC, along with the other ailments cbr are susceptible to. I also discovered, by accident, to following site that gives info on cbr's (site useful to newcomers/owners of chessies) plus it might be a resource for the numerous breeders on this site to advertise (seen some listed that post here). especially what is needed(for the public) is the High quality breeders who care about breeding and the well-being of cbr's (as we have on this site!!). There are also links to other info that may be useful. This site is: http://puppydogweb.com/caninebreeds/retrvrcbay. htm Hope everyone can benefit from these. Had to let those interested know. charlie |

Noticed I forgot to type letter in site address
Should be: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genome/guide/dog/ (sorry I don't know how to highlight it as a link.) Also noticed the second site was highlighted (don't know how I did it) but it is missing the .htm (highlighted). Sorry!! |
