My chessie is 8 1/2 months. She is 70lbs and still very lanky and lean. What is the typical "growth chart" for a chessie?

My last female was

45 lb @ 6 months
58 lb@ one yr
62 lb at 2 yrs......

my male, nearly 10 months old -
63 lb @ 6 mo
75-80 bl @ 10 mo
I think he may gain another 10-15 lb....hopefully not much more Wink...

I think by the time they are 10 months they are pretty much done growing in height (might gain anothe half inch or so)...after that, any weight gain is from growing into their frame. And of course all dogs are different.

I don't think your girl will be much over 80 lb...but she'll probably be close.

I have read on a different forum that whatever a dog weighs at 4 month old you just double that.

My female was 34# at 4 mos, 65 at one year. Very lanky for first 2 years. Third season her chest really filled out. She is 5 now and ~70-75.

"May's Dad" what are you doing with your Peake in that very hip town of Boulder? Any field stuff? If so, there are a couple of good guys in your neighborhood that like field Peakes. Scott Kurtz is also in Boulder, John Norris in Littleton and Dennis Curran in Lyons who has had Peakes for over 30 years.

I'm just guessing but you're not the biggest fan of Boulder (lol)! May is more of a companion dog, she is my second Peake and really a fun dog.
It would be great to see her get involved in field test, but i don't have a big background in this area. I have read up on it, but have not done anything to serious.
I took May out shooting a couple times, and she really didn't like it. But I guess practice makes perfect.

Please don't get me wrong! Boulder has some great history and I have always loved many things about the area and have quite a few old friends from the Front Range. I lived East of Ft. Collins throughout the 1980's when there was a lot less people and more wide open space so I am a bit spoiled.

A lot of great music (old and new) has evolved from the Boulder-Ft.Collins area (Denver too) and that is just one of the aspects I was referring to in my previous post. Emmylou Harris ("From Boulder to Birmingham"), Gram Parsons, Jock Bartley (Firefall), Stephen Stills, Dan Fogelberg, Richie Furay (Poco), Tim O'Brien, The Subdudes, Big Head Todd and many, many more musicians have been connected to the Boulder, CO. area over the years.

I love music as much as I do Chesapeakes and my son is a hell of a guitarist and he too is greatly influenced by music that has been made in Colorado.

Good luck with your Peake!

Benjamin,

Send your email address to Linda Meek (meekl@aol.com ) who is the local RD for the ACC in Colorado and lives in Elizabeth. She is also an old friend of mine going back 20 plus years and she will get you connected with some folks. You can also email me privately and I will send some information to you.
