My Grand ended way to soon for Cuda, he slid behind a gun in the first series and would not handle back to the bird, so I picked him up. I lost another dog on the same series, both she and Cuda did not see the long bird. A handle to the area is a definate no no. The one dog that saw the long mark did an outstanding set of marks and a two whistle blind. Unfortunatly for him and I in the second series he did not see the middle bird on a very difficult water test and I picked him up as well. My two clients did well for there first time at the line at a national event. One going out in the thrid series witha poor decision on his part on the blind. He trusted his dog and did not handle on the end of a difficult blind and lost him after almost lineing it. The other went four series before being dropped for cast refusals on the blind.

This is the first Grand I have ran since 1998 in Rend Lake Ill. The club that put on the event did a good job the tests were challenging and do able. It was unfortunate that I happend to run at a time when visibility on a key mark was low.

Waiting was the hardes part of the entire week, the first dog ran Sat. morning about 8:30 and I did not run a dog until almost 6p.m. My clients ran before lunch and did well on the first test, on the next series I did not run until Monday afternoon until around 3.p.m. Waiting for 24 hours between tests is telling on both the handler and the dogs. Still not sure if I will run another one, HRC is a great organization just not really sure if it is for me.
