My wife and I will be traveling to Montana this September to attend the American Chesapeake Club Specialty Trail (just as spectators). So, we are looking to possibly hunt for grouse and camp for a few days after the trial. I am thinking of the Seeley Lake area, but I am not set on it. I heard there was a huge fire west of town last year, and the forest in that area is not in the best shape.

While ruffed grouse hunting would be great, if the numbers are not very good around that area, I would appreciate that info too, as I’m sure we could find other activities to keep us busy.

Thanks in advance for any info provided,

Damon Sweep

Ps, I realize the regulations in regards to the reservation, and plan on hunting outside of the reservation.

I just saw your Post. Where are you coming from? Makes a difference on which grouse you want to hunt. If you just want to hunt mountain grouse (ruffs and blues) or do you want to hunt sharpies and sage hens as well.

Let me know if you are hunters I can most likely get you to an area worth checking out.
