Been tryin to get pup to mellow growling barking scareing the neibors etc.. Getting better. Much better. Last night a guy shows up on my doorstep little after ten why I even answerd who knows, no bark no growl all good until this moron decides to stick his foot in my door after asking for three dollars cause he was out of gas apparently thinking that I wouldnt try and break it with the door NOT to mention the extreamly large set of pissed off teeth now emerging from between my legs. Not a rasist but this bruther turned 3 shades of white while slowly backing up all the way out the front yard to the street. He made the pavement dog stoped. Thinkin he wont be back.

Probably a sin, but when the witnesses come calling, I answer the door with a Chessie at heel. Keeps our visits brief and infrequent.

('Course, he's at heel so he can't lick 'em.)

I always answer my door with two loose chessies when the caller is unexpected. The caller is usually smart enough not to open the screen door, but you can tell by the look on their face that they are wondering when the chessies will come through it Smile!

Had a pushy vaccuum salesman keep coming back, so I let the dogs bark their fool heads off and answered with dogs in a sit behind me. He was three steps down the porch and asked if the dogs had a release word- sure do if I say it they'll come barreling down the steps! Haven't seen him since.

But when the doorbell rings, quiet means quiet and they sit until we say ok and they can greet the guest and smother them with kisses and butt scratch demands! He just didn't know that! Lol

Hes getting better but here at home the pup still requires an intro from me, then he your best friend. Park or at kids school anyone can pet him or other dog can sniff. Have to say I dont think anyone will pick one of my kids up and run off with them with out needing stiches. I can so totally see why they were the choice of comericial hunters, and why with some they have a bad rap. onery, smart, and subborn. love it.

Will agree with smart but I don't consider them ornery or stubborn because, there smart. Good judges of human character? You bet they are and JMO, this is where they shine Smile

I love it! Bet that brutha wont be back! Anybody that sticks their foot in the door is thinking about more than three bucks! Too bad he didn't get that foot torn off!

Brad, i was just happy that he is learning to sit and stay and thus he didnt go postal until the dude put his foot in the house aswell as he didnt leave the doorway. He would have taken me with him due to the fact he shoved his head thru my legs. A 4-6 weeks ago i coulnt have opened the door without him on a leash didnt matter whom was at the door. Bad owner I was. Geting great advice here though. ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR THE ADVICE!
