My latest Avatar (an Avatar is a picture you use almost like a signature)

Is none other than my Great Grandpa Ira Orlando Isham circa 1926. He was Chief of the Lac Courte Oreille Band at the time. LCO is a Band of Ojibwe (politically correct nowadays, formerly known as Chippewa)

Looking around the Kennel I am happy to be affiliated with a breed native to the USA. And also proud that Alex Spear used that name on a dog that makes me proud. (glad he wasn't a wash out!) Every single one of my 8 dogs has FC AFC CFC CAFC Chesdel Chippewa Chief in their pedigrees, 7 with "Chip" in the tail male position. It wasn't the deciding factor when I was thinking about what breed of retriever I was going to get, but kind of a neat coincidence.

And somewhere, my Gramps is smiling...

Pretty cool. Still working on my avatar. How do you edit these things? I have a nice cropped version on my PC, but don't know how to get it on here.

Lisa,
The Mystery Dog! How's she doing?

I put your Avatar in your profile. http://teamchesapeake.infopop.cc/6/ws/,s,19560554/Avatars/VanLoo.jpg

As soon as you post again, all of your posts should reflect the change.

This is retarded. I will have to read up and see if we can let people upload there own Avatars.

I caught up to your post numbers yesterday! I'm looking forward to falling behind again.

The avatar is great. A lot of our dogs are named with words in Abenaki, natives to our region but some are MN Ojibwe. Beartown Bitawbagok is named for Lake Champlain where we hunt.

LOL! Been a) out of town (business), b) busier than heck otherwise.

Bev Millheim left me a message on my answering machine. The Mystery Dog has successfully learned how to swim straight lines in the water. She is officially through swim-by and now gets to learn all the other things that good little doggies should know before they go to their first trial.

The Mystery Dog is an exception to Adrienne's naming convention, being as her name is Beartown Iron Butterfly. I wanted to name her Beartown I Gopher Birds, but got outvoted!

In this case, I'm glad you got out voted. Big Grin
Way to keep her straight Adrienne! bash
(I always did like Adrienne's naming theme.)

But Wahoo! She made it through the swim by! Now you can really start having fun. Almost a big dog now.

If I could get to that point in training with all my dogs (done by a pro), I'd be happy as h*ll. Just getting started on basics with Cooper and the Secret Weapon. Doing it myself cussin'
I just heard from one of my puppy owners yesterday, they are sending their pup south. Now I've got two from that litter on the winter trip with pro's. Life is good.

Still mad at the stupid groundhog though! Minnesota rules: Six more MONTHS of winter. Mad

Yeah, now just have to touch bases with Rick and Bev and start planning what derbies we want to run her in. Thinking of starting in Canada (smaller trials, no shot fliers). She just turned 13 months old. Just a b-a-b-y, yet!
