An interesting concept Kerrie but it would be nice to have more information about the Vette being auctioned. History? Numbers matching car? Who pays shipping? And a lot more.
Vintage Corvettes vary tremendously in value and this one is a "Woman's Vette" with a low horsepower 283 V-8 coupled to a 2 speed Powerglide automatic. Not very popular in its day and weak in comparison to the more performance oriented Corvettes built. But for a $10 raffle ticket and they pay shipping, I still might take a chance but would prefer any one of the numerous 50's and 60's Vettes I owned, restored or customized in a 20 time period from long ago. Not a bad idea, but a '61 Fuelie with a 283/315hp and HT/Conv would have been much cooler! Good luck with the raffle. Well, Keith, first, I knew you'd chime in.
I'll see what other information I can find out on the vehicle and post it. A '61 Fuelie might have been cooler but I don't think this is too shabby for $10 a single ticket. Let me know what information you'd like and I'll see what I can find out. |

For ten bucks plus it benifits CBRR&R what the heck with all the ?'s and prferences make a donation and right it off on your taxes. Shipping now your talking big bucks!! Write that off too!

I doubt very much for a $10 raffle ticket you would ever get a chance at a '61 CS Fuelie no doubt worth over $100,000 in the same grade condition as above!

That is very true Dave but I would not judge "condition" on just a few photos without a physical inspection. You and I would see things very differently in that scenario.
I would also bet (judging from a few photos) that this old Vette has suffered from the same condition that so many from that era sustained, poorly repaired prior collision damage to the front end. The rad support couldn't have been banged up to badly or the hood gap would be even worse or it could be just a rushed resto! It definately will make some lucky 'peake owner a great sunday cruiser!

Dave,
One of the most important factors to me buying an old Vette was one that was not only completely original but also a car that had never been damaged in the front end. Three of my 67's were that way and two were cars orignally bought by women. In 1980 I looked for a long time for an oddball '67 Coupe with a 327/300HP Auto, AC, Tele. PW, PS,PB and bought one in Alabama that was original and untouched. Great car for a woman to drive. "Bluesky" (Joanne) on this forum also owned one of those Vettes long ago that was built in the 60's for a woman. An original 1967 conv/HT, yellow/black interior with a 327/300 HP, auto, AC, PW, PS, PB and absolutely mint Corvette. She also owned a gorgeous 4 speed black pearl '67 Coupe with a 327/350HP (and a '69 Z28 Camaro before that). Her sister owned a '69 conv/HT; her dad had '65 Coupe with a 396/425 HP (big money car today); her brother-in-law had a 63 Split window Coupe & 67 Coupe with 427/390 HP AC car. She could teach you a lot about Vintage Vettes! Hey Kerrie...got an idea how much tread is left on those tires? <VBG>
Granted the car probably isn't Barrett-Jackson quality BUT it sure beats the usual bag of dog treats or dog beds that are usually donated towards rescue raffles. Kudos to who ever donated it regardless if it is a "Woman's Vette". PS: Bless your heart for all that you do for rescue Kerrie |

WELL SAID! I second that on all counts! Kathy |

And was the Corvette donated?
That too would be some additional interesting information. Keith,
What difference does it make.....the proceeds are going to rescue -- certainly a worthy cause -- and someone will win an nice old classic Vet for the cost of a $10 raffle ticket! I'm sure that anyone of the people who buy a ticket would be thrilled to win, and our wonderful canines will benefit as well. Kathy |

The problem here is the color of the interior. Most men are insecure about their manlyhood. So they are a little uncomfortable about red. Now me I would have no problem so when I buy the winning ticket I will personally pick up the car and drive it home. Of course the top will be down. I guess I'll have to get matching sunglasses and an ascot. You will sell me the winning ticket! Right!

I would be happy winning a Korean moped sold at the auto parts store for a $10 raffle ticket going to a Chesapeake Charity...

I have an old friend who is retired from CO. Division of Wildlife and raised several really nice litters of field bred Labs every year. (I know, gave my son a nice female from one of those litters on Xmas 13 years ago).
For several years, his pups were raffled at the local Ducks Unlimited Banquet. One year they decided to go with another breeder of Labradors. When the new owner of that particle pup received the papers and pedigree he was shocked and very disappointed. The pup was from all "Show" breeding and lacking in any field accomplishments in the pedigree. Well, no problem, the raffle tickets were cheap and he had a new pup. But it might have been nice to know the "pedigree" on this new "high performance" hunting partner. The dog never did compare to other Lab pups auctioned in the past. Mike,
Your "manhood" might be so turned on driving that Vette back to Conn. wearing those shades with the top down and winding that Powerglide up about to about 5500 RPM, you most likely would throw a "rod" thru the side of the block on that 'ol 283. Hey don't knock those old Chevy 283's! At 18 years old, I burned 150 of rubber out of the local watering hole, when my foot slipped off the clutch, it popped, and I saw I was heading towards the trees down the center strip of the road in my almost new (to me) 57" chevy Bel Air Convertible (yes, it was aqua too). Still wish I had that car! And, yup, I got an exhibition of speed ticket for it too from the local gendarme!!

I live about 10 minutes from Dwight, IL. The Basset rescue parade is a pretty cool event.
I would be more than happy to receive delivery, if someone on here win's the car. |

I just contributed $50 to CBR Rescue. If I win, great. I am sure I will be invited to drive in the next local parade, with the Deuce at my side. If I don't win so be it. at least it was for a good cause. For those of you on the board who are hung up on trannies. cubic inches, matching numbers, automotive nuances and other Corvette histrionics I suggest you go watch American Graffiti or re-runs of Rt. 66...maybe then your Corvette jones will be satisfied....

Right on PA RIchard. If someone doesn't like this car STfu and don't try and convince others not to buy tickets. That is unbelievably rude.
