I was offered this pup for free, as he was the last one left from the litter, and breeder likes my family situation. I originally passed a couple of months ago (timing was bad). Not sure of how high quality the lines are, but the parents look good and seem to have a good temperment. I have three young kids and a year-old lab. Has he missed out on too much socialization/training/bonding? Love chessies & miss the breed, BUT don't want to set my family or dogs up for failure. Thanks for ANY advice.

I doubt that it would be a problem - yes you do have to give some adjustment time and probably wise to keep the two dogs seperated unless supervised (on lead initially)....4.5 mo is not too young to miss out on developing a bond with a family....esp if the pup has been well socialized while at the breeders.

I wonder if you could take the pup to your house for a weekend or few days to see how he and your family would do....

I wouldn't hesitate getting a four month old pup. Should be house trained (or easily trained) and passed the ankle biting stage LOL

WOW three little kids and a 12 month old Lab...makes me want to go take a nap Smile What are your plans with your Lab (hunting, pet, etc) and what would your plans be for the CBR pup? JMO, having two pups can be very time consuming and then add the family to the equation and you could be spreading yourself a little thin.

Abby is out of CH Lottawattah's Action Jack (CH Pond Hollow Bering Sea x CH Pond Hollow Belle Starr JH) and Am/Int CH Silvercreek The Real (CH Quailridge-Chesabarmakintraxx x CH Silvercreek I Love Lucy). Abby is a distant relative of Kaie.

I think Marjan's Sweet Surrender(Dillon) has Chesabar sire. I will have to look at that one again. Probably some Great Grand Sire and Dams in common...I knew there was a reason she looked so good!Smile

I believe Silvercreek's Sweet Surrender is sired by Am/Can Ch. Silvercreek's Gunsmoke RN (Dillon) whose parents are CH Quail Ridge's Chesbar Makin Traxx x CH Silvercreek I Dream of Jeannie, which makes Dillon a half brother to Susie's Abby's mother. And I believe Sweet Surrender is out of Am/Can/Int. Ch. Mar-Jan's Annie's Song who is sired by my Rusty.

I could be wrong though as I'm doing part of this off the top of my head....and that can often times get me into trouble Roll Eyes
